NumberWorks 'n Words Event

Kirsten Kean —

The Ministry of Education recently announced the intention to provide additional funding to support young people whose learning has been disrupted by Covid by offering an opportunity to access tuition.

The purpose of this correspondence is to provide you with information about our services providing tuition in both Maths and English.

NumberWorks’nWords is one of the world’s longest running tuition providers. Established in 1984, we have over 65 centres in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. We provide individualised Maths and English tuition for students from Year 1 through to Year 11 using our in-centre tuition platform.
The key advantages for NumberWorks’nWords centres as a tuition provider to support students whose learning has been disrupted by COVID are:

  • Ability to offer tuition tailored to the needs of students
  • Specialists in Maths and English from Year 1 to Year 11
  • Systems in place for the development of strong relationships between the student, parent, teacher and school
  • Structured personalised programmes related to the New Zealand curriculum
  • 30 centres located across New Zealand for easy accessibility for students in need

Our purpose is to make a positive difference to children’s lives. Over the past two years, we have seen an increase in the number of students requiring our tuition service as they have fallen behind in their Numeracy and Literacy skills due to the COVID-19 lockdowns and subsequent interruptions to children's learning.
Over the past 35 years, we have developed learning systems which mirror the New Zealand curriculum and produce results in confidence and proficiency. We recognise that the achievement of successful learning outcomes for a student is a team effort, and as such, we closely with parents and teachers to ensure that we achieve the best outcomes for each student.
Every student who comes to NumberWorks’nWords works on individualised learning programme tailored to their particular needs. This is based on the initial assessment where we involve parents in the process of setting of goals for their children. The New Zealand designed software is engaging and scaffolded. Our trained tutors are especially selected for their ability to relate and engage with their students whether they enrol for confidence, a boost, remedial or extension.
At NumberWorks’nWords, we run our in-centre classes of 60 minutes per subject after school hours, Monday - Fridays from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. We propose that through the Covid support programme, our tuition services would play a crucial role in helping to bolster learning for your students who would benefit from the additional support.
It is anticipated that the systems we have in place ensures delivery of professional and timely lessons to students now and into 2023 and beyond.

We welcome interested parties to come along to see the centre in action anytime.
