Qualification: NCEA Level 1

Entry requirements: For ākonga who have a keen interest and background in Dance and students who are new to the subject

Ākonga will need appropriate attire to dance in and Dance shoes for performance

Content/Skills: This is a exciting new performance and choreography based dance course. The year will start off learning a repertoire of dances across different genres and cultures.  Ākonga will then choreograph their own group, duet and solo pieces inspired by their pepeha and Aotearoa.  

Field Trips: These may include performances at Isaac Theatre Royal for the Royal New Zealand Ballet

Course Costs: Ticket costs and other workshop costs when applicable.

Assessment:

2 Internal Achievement Standards worth 10 Credits

1 External Achievement Standard worth 5 Credits

Where does it lead? NCEA Level 2.
