Christchurch Girls’ High School had a very successful Badminton season during Term 2 and Term 3 against schools from all over Christchurch this year.

There were a total of 16 badminton teams with some notable achievements.

Our CGHS Purple team and CGHS Kowhai team came 2nd and 3rd overall in the Girls B grade, Division 1, Section 1. Our CGHS Silver and Coral teams came 2nd and 3rd overall in the Girls C grade, Division 1 Section 2. CGHS 9 Red came 2nd in the Girls C grade, Division 3, Section 1. Huge congratulations to all these teams for their outstanding effort!

We also held our annual CGHS Badminton Championship Tournament this year with both junior and senior competitors. The senior singles were won by Ednicaleen Balderas and the junior singles were won by Mary Balmoria. Our winners for the senior doubles were Ednicaleen Balderas and Honey Gail Punongbayan and the winners for the junior doubles were Mariah Evangelista and Angel Campo. 

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who participated in the Championship Tournament this year; you all played very well.

A massive thank you to all the Badminton players for the effort you have put in. I hope you enjoyed this year’s Badminton season as much as I did. I’m sure it will be another fabulous year for CGHS Badminton in 2020.
