Painting - Level 3

Qualification: NCEA Level 3

Entry requirements: NCEA Art Level 2 Painting and Printmaking. Exceptions may be made only in consultation with the HOD Art.

Content/Skills: Ākonga will be examined on their practical knowledge of at least one established form of painting through a variety of work consisting of drawing notes, developed sequences of drawings, small works and finished paintings which show how pictorial ideas and the relationship between such ideas, methods, materials and forms are developed, clarified and resolved.

Ākonga wishing to pursue a career in any of the fields of Visual Arts (Architecture, Advertising, Illustration, Film, Interior or Graphic Design, Digital Photography) are prepared for tertiary study.

Stationery costs will range from: $40.00 - $60.00 depending on what equipment a student may already have.

Please be aware that this course has associated costs. By selecting this course you will be requested to make contributions connected to its delivery. These costs for specialist art materials are: $60.00.

Each ākonga will be provided with access to Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and print credit for completed work for the formative and summative assessments. For all extra printing ākonga will need to purchase print credit.

2 Internal Achievement Standards worth 8 credits

1 External Achievement Standard worth 14 credits
