Pro Coro Chamber Choir

Rhiannon Mason —

Pro Coro is a CGHS chamber choir made up of eight students from Year 10-13, selected for their vocal blend and ability.

Beginning as a mixed choir of CGHS and CBHS students, the Chamber Choir became exclusive to CGHS as the year progressed and operated under a student director, creating a fully independent choral experience for the students. As a group, we rehearsed once a week on a Monday lunchtime. We learnt a wide variety of music, ranging from works written for a choral setting, such as Ola Gjeilo’s “Ubi Caritas”, to more unique works including a choral arrangement of “Someday” from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The size of the choir meant that over the course of the year we became incredibly close friends, forming a tight-knit group full of people who enjoyed chatting just as much as singing together, eagerly supporting our members and celebrating individual and group achievements. It has been an absolute privilege to be a part of this choir and its student director, and I can’t wait to see all of the incredible things these talented individuals will achieve and experience in the future.
