UNICEF Parliamentary Visit
Over the 21-23 of August, Ngārita MacKenzie (13DXS) was part of the UNICEF Youth Ambassadors Group to visit Parliament.
The Youth Ambassadors group are aged between 17-24 years and are effectively the youth wing of the United Nations. Ngārita has been a member of the NZ branch of UNICEF since May 2023.
The purpose of the Wellington trip was to share the results of consultations with young people (completed by young ambassadors) with politicians and the climate commission.
During her time at Parliament Ngārita met,

- Debbie Ngarewa-Packer (Leader of Te Paati Māori)
- Nicola Willis (Deputy Leader, National Party)
- Tamati Coffey (Labour MP)
- Karen Chhour (Act MP)
- Camilla Belich (Labour MP)
The Climate Commission also met with the Young Ambassadors to discuss the implications of the report on young people.
Ngārita also took the opportunity to sit in on question time and witness firsthand the MP's at work.
