Ikura | Manaakitia te whare tangata Reusable Trial

Laura-Jean Peawini —

The Ministry of Education has selected Christchurch Girls’ High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora to take part in a small trial of reusable period products.

This is part of the Ikura | Manaakitia Te Whare Tangata initiative which is already providing disposable products nationwide.

Malatest International are working with the Ministry to understand how well the trial works and what would need to be in place for a national rollout.

Malatest will visit Christchurch Girls’ High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora in Term two. They will ask some students about the trial and what they have thought of the products. Interviews will be confidential and taking part is not compulsory. Young people will not have to take part if you or they choose not to. There will also be online surveys for students and teachers. It will be completely anonymous, and students will not give their names.

We are also keen to hold a whānau hui to hear whānau perspectives on the reusable products trial.

Information has been shared with our students and they have the option to select either period underwear, a menstrual cup, both products, or none. This is not compulsory however we do hope that they have spoken to you at home about this opportunity.

For more information about the evaluation, or if you have questions please contact Paris Porter at Malatest International on 0800 002 577 or email paris.porter@malatest-intl.com.

If you would like to know more about the products or about the trial at Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora please contact Mrs Laura-Jean Peawini at pwl@cghs.school.nz or phone 03 348 08489.
