Competitive Athletics Day

Piper Everson and Izzi Leifi. —

A scorching 31 degree day greeted our competitive students at Ngā Puna Wai for the Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora athletics day on Tuesday.

Athletics day provides an opportunity for those at Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora to showcase their athletic talents to the school. This year was done a bit differently, where only the competitive athletes went to Ngā Puna Wai, and the rest of the school remained at Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora, doing fun tabloid sports and gaining points for their house.

The athletes at Ngā Puna Wai produced an outstanding performance, displaying all our values while persevering through the dreaded heat.

It was awesome to see so many athletes giving it a go and getting involved, as well as seeing new Year 9 competitive athletes debuting their athletic abilities for the school. There were some great performances on the track and on the field, however no records were broken this year.
