May Campbell Anderson Competition 2019
This year's winner of the prestigious May Campbell Anderson competition is Kathleen King.
Students read a variety of texts and wrote four essays during a three hour examination. The texts offered a range of genre, time periods and cultures. They were: 'All the Light We Cannot See', a novel by Anthony Doerr; 'Educating Rita', a play by Willy Russell; 'We Should All Be Feminists', a speech by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie; a selection of poetry by Apirana Taylor ; and a choice of stories from 'Fresh Ink, a Collection of Voices from Aotearoa New Zealand'.
Congratulations to all entrants as the adjudicator commented on the very high quality of responses.
