Qualification: NCEA Level 2

Entry requirements: A minimum of 16 credits at NCEA Level 1 Science including Achieved or better in S1.1 and Achieved or better in P1.3 (for 11S13 students) as well as qualification for the 12MAT Mathematics course or better. Entry is at the discretion of the HOD Physics.

Content/Skills: The Year 12 Physics course includes three topics: Mechanics, Electricity and Electromagnetism and Atomic and Nuclear Physics. The skills of measuring precisely and accurately and carrying out graphical analysis are assessed in a three hour practical physics investigation.

Field Trip: University of Canterbury ( full day)

Please be aware that this course has associated costs. By selecting this course you will be requested to make contributions connected to its delivery.

These costs are: $25 for a workbook and approx $15 for the field trip.

Assessment:

2 Internal Achievement Standards worth 7 credits

2 External Achievement Standards worth 12
