2020 was a rollercoaster year for the Futsal Senior A team.

We started the year with the regional tournament held at Ara in February. Going unbeaten in pool play, the team worked their way into the semi-finals, facing reigning National Champions, Rangiora High School. With the score tied at 2-2 after extra-time, the game moved to a shootout after which CGHS came out ontop. 

We then came up against a tough St Andrews College side in the final, with multipleinjured players on the bench. The girls fought hard but couldn’t come up with the win, placingus second in Canterbury for the 2020 season. 

With the help of Mainland Futsal Coach, Ronan Naicker, the team began to prepare for Nationals only for it to be cancelled 2 weeks out.

Although we were gutted by this decision, it has inspired us to continue working and broughtthe team even closer together. With all of our players returning next season, we are set tohave an even more successful year in 2021 under the loving guidance of Mrs Richards.
