Science - Year 12

Qualification: NCEA Level 2

Entry requirements: Achieved at least two of the 11SCA or 11SCG standards and HOLA approval.

Content/Skills: This course will appeal to a wide variety of students as it covers a range of topics. It includes Microscope work and Chemistry (Ions in Solution) and covers areas such as the Geology of Canterbury, and Survival of Organisms in an extreme polar environment. While this course does not lead to a Level 3 Science Course, it does provide a good coverage of most Science subjects and forms a basis to enter any Polytechnic Science based course.

18 Credits, all internal standards are taught in this course.

Where does it lead? Level 2 credits will assist students wishing to study these subjects at Ara Institute of Canterbury or other similar tertiary institutes. Students taking this course will not be granted entry into NCEA Level 3 Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
