10 Kea Connects with Motor Neuron Disease Foundation

Vicki Teesdale, Junior English —

Helen Johnstone, Mrs Teesdale’s aunty, visited 10 Kea on Wednesday to accept a donation of $1961.10 on behalf the Motor Neuron Disease Foundation.

The money was raised through a raffle undertaken by the class this term. The students welcomed Helen warmly and she offered a heartfelt and honest window into her world as someone living with MND.

The raffle has been a term-long commitment! The students exercised their persuasive writing skills by composing letters to whānau, friends and members of the community, requesting prizes for the raffle. They sold tickets tirelessly, both within and beyond the school.

10 Kea should be delighted with this impressive total but, more importantly, they should be proud of their commitment to making a genuine difference to their community.
