This week we celebrated both Japanese Culture and the Persian New Year.
Japan Culture Celebration
To observe Japan Festivals in March 2023, Christchurch Girls’ High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora librarians made a colourful display. Japanese student librarians have been involved actively to display books and posters that reflects their culture.
The librarians organised a Japanese activity session in the library on 22 March 2023 at lunchtime. Students enjoyed picking up jellybeans with chopsticks! They participated in fun competitions and won prizes.
Happy Nowruz
Best wishes for the Persian new year, Nowruz means new day in Persian. Not only in Iran, but It is also celebrated by more than 300 million people across the world. To celebrate Persian New Year, on 21 March 2023, Christchurch Girls’ High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora librarians put up a display of books that represented Persian culture and history. They also put the required seven elements on the table that represent the different perspectives of life.
Love for knitting
Mrs Cecelia Jardine King and Miss Jocelyn Rattray are running the knitting sessions on Tuesdays at lunchtime. Students are learning to knit and enjoy sharing their ongoing projects with others. Students are enjoying this hobby as a pastime activity during their break time.
If you have any knitting needles, crochet needles or wool sitting around at home please bring these along.
