Touch and Rugby League Success
In the last holidays, Ella Bussey-Timo (Year 13) travelled to Oamaru with the U18 Canterbury Girls’ League team and played against the Otago team.
This was also a trial for the South Island U18's side to play at the National tournament in September. Ella was selected and made the South Island U18 Girls’ Team.
In the first week of August, Ella travelled to Samoa to compete in the Samoa National Elite Touch Championships. Her team, Vaatausili, won the championship and Ella was top try scorer in a 3-way tie; she scored 5 tries during the tournament.
The tournament was also a trial to select the Samoan National Women's Side for the Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands in November, and the World Cup next year in London.
Last week Ella received confirmation that she has been named in the squad for the Samoan Women's Open National Team.
Congratulations Ella on these great achievements!
