School Colours

CGHS Publications —

Throughout the year, students are recognised for their academic, sporting, and cultural achievements through the awarding of Colours, Gold Certificates, and Silver Awards.

Colours and Gold Certificates are typically awarded to senior students but may be granted to junior students in exceptional circumstances.

For Sporting, Cultural, and Service Colours, students must submit an application by the specified deadline. Decisions are made by the Principal, Deputy Principal, the Teacher in Charge of the activity, or the Sports Coordinator.

All Sports, Cultural, and School Service awards are presented in Term 4. Due to the varying nature of each sport, the final decision regarding Sports Colours rests with the Principal, Deputy Principal, and Sports Coordinator. It is important that applicants provide detailed information about their achievements.

Additionally, recipients must have contributed service to the school within the relevant sport, which must be a recognised school sport.

Academic Colours are awarded based on performance in Year 11 and Year 12 NCEA assessments. The Principal, in consultation with the Academic Colours Coordinator (Deputy Principal), makes the final decision on Academic Colours.
