It was a privilege to have Lilia Tarawa visit Christchurch Girls’ High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora to talk about what it was like to grow up in the Gloriavale Christian Community.
She shared stories about her whānau in Gloriavale, explaining how she left and how her family coped with adjusting to the outside world.
Lilia discussed how Gloriavale, New Zealand and Māori culture has shaped her identity, mental and emotional wellbeing, self-esteem and confidence.
It was Lilia’s second visit to CGHS and we hope to see her again next year!
