During the July school holidays, Millie Sarjeant (Year 12) and Amie Callaghan (Year 11) flew to Sydney, Australia to compete in the National Australian Cadet (Under 17) Championships.

They competed against girls up to the age of 17 from all around Australasia. They both fenced very well in the individual event, Millie coming 11th and Amie 25th. 

Millie was then selected to be in the New Zealand A team, the team fenced amazingly and made it all the way to the semi-finals, closely losing to New South Wales and gaining a bronze medal. 

Amie was also selected to be in the NZ B team which came 7th in the team's event.
