South Island Secondary School Water Polo Championships
The Senior Water Polo Team traveled to Dunedin to compete at the South Island Secondary School Championships in March.
We had the same team as last year, with no seniors leaving us in 2017. As the majority of our team were juniors, our one aim was to improve on our placing from last year.
We finished 3rd in our pool, with some tough games against Columba and Rangi Ruru. However, being 3rd in our pool gave us a second chance at making the top 4 through a playoff against Otago Girls' High School. We put up a big fight but lost by a few goals.
Southland was our next game and we played one of our best games, beating them by a large margin. In the 5th -6th playoff, we played Southland again and came away with another win, leaving us in 5th position. This was a big improvement on our placing from last year, and we were all very happy with our performance. We improved massively each game and put up our best performance. Jess Aitken was also named in the tournament team from the competition.
