Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships

On Tuesday, March 18th, and Friday, March 21st, our Christchurch Girls' High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora athletics squad of 47 athletes took part in the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships.

Despite challenging weather conditions, the girls performed incredibly well, embodying our school values with pride. It was truly inspiring to witness not only their individual achievements but also the exceptional support and encouragement they showed one another. The dedication and effort displayed by our athletes were evident in the impressive results Christchurch Girls' High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora achieved. Here are the standout performers who secured 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the competition:

  • 3rd 4x400m A team (Nia Prescott, Ella Hunter, Isla Tilbury, Ruby Simon)

U15:

  • 1st (record) Shot Put - Eseta Qalivutu (12.72m).

U16:

  • 1st Hammer- Emma Grenfell

  • 3rd Shot Put- Emma Grenfell

  • 3rd High Jump - Zara De Vere

U19:

  • 2nd Long Jump -Samara Taurima

  • 3rd Long Jump -Sofia Ludman Hidalgo

  • 3rd Triple Jump -Samara Taurima

  • 3rd Discus -Hannah Grenfell 

  • 3rd Javelin -Zara Hunter 

Once again, a huge congratulations to these athletes, as well as to all of our competitors. A squad of 17 athletes will be heading to the South Island Secondary Schools Athletics Championships in Nelson on April 4th, 5th, and 6th. We wish them the best of luck in this exciting upcoming competition!
