On Thursday 10th of September two teams of Year 11 Geography students from Christchurch Girls’ High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora competed with 17 other teams from around Christchurch in the regional geography competition hosted by the University of Canterbury Geography Department.

This competition tests students in a wide area of geographical knowledge and skills including general knowledge, geographic vocabulary as well as map knowledge and skills over eight rounds.

Both teams enjoyed the challenge and competed very well with CGHS Red finishing ninth and CGHS Blue finishing tied for second place with Shirley Boys at the completion of the rounds. Unfortunately, they lost the tie breaker question to finish third, but can feel very proud of their excellent result which was only 5 points behind the winner on the night, Cashmere High.
