The CGHS Debating Club in 2021 had another successful year with 9 keen debaters from Year 9 to Year 13.

 These debaters were: Sylvie King, Pippa Ford, Rose Lynn, Fatima Siddiqui, Evelyn King, Frances Stanley, Annabelle Diprose, Gwyn Walker, and Ahna Pahearding.

These students made three teams which competed in the Canterbury Schools’ Debating Council’s fortnightly inter-school competition held at Saint Andrew’s College. There was a Novice team, Junior team, and a Senior team. All three teams displayed an excellent set of public speaking and case-building skills, leading to success in many of their debates. Pippa Ford had a successful year helping debate in both the Senior and Junior debating team. As we sadly farewell Ahna Pahearding and Gwyn Walker, we look forward to seeing some of our Junior debaters move into the Senior competition next year and continue to grow their skills.t
