Selwyn House
2020 was a great year for Selwyn, through thick and thin!
Undoubtedly, these four terms have been full of challenges for students, leaders, and teachers respectively and yet all my Selwyn girls gave their all whenever there was an opportunity to!
This enthusiasm was evident in both swimming sports and athletics and was rewarded accordingly as we won both of these events. Especially at athletics day, support was shown throughout all the Selwyn girls and in the House events, we participated amazingly. It was a really proud moment for me and was my first official opportunity to connect with Selwyn girls through all different year levels and I valued these relationships throughout the year and will going forward.
The practices for lip-syncing were a personal highlight, as seeing the number of girls who religiously turned up to practices, and the number of girls who helped out in all areas whether it be tech or dance or props were very appreciated. The willingness to participate was something special, and it will be the biggest disappointment of the year that Lip Sync, unfortunately, had to be cancelled due to COVID 19 restrictions.
Overall, Selwyn did better than anyone could have expected under the circumstances, and the house spirit that could be seen in our (unfortunately few) school activities was a pleasure to witness! The work of Selwyn deputies, Rose & Bella Stephenson was incredibly valuable and our house teacher Ms. James was a great support!
