Lip Balm For Numeracy

In other lip balm news, earlier this year we enabled our NCEA Year 11 Learning Enhancement students to gain credits using everyday mathematical skills.

Their mahi involved using an estimated weight per tube of product and dividing by each person in a group, to calculate the amount lip balm required. Students scaled a recipe, and everyone had a turn measuring ingredients on the scales. Again, we learned about making a product, and got creative with the labels, before each student took their balm home to enjoy.
