Kaikoura Adventure Racing
On Saturday 20 April, one of our Christchurch Girls' High School/ Te Kura o Hine Waiora Adventure Racing teams took part in the Kaikoura Adventure Race
The Team, consisting of Emily Prebble, Lucia De Goldi, Aimee Free and Annabel Diprose raced in the 3-hour open schools category. During the race, the team completed two rogaines, a trek, a mountain bike and a mystery activity, a two-wire bridge.
They had to navigate their way around the course to find all of the required checkpoints as fast as they could. The Girls started strong with a rogaine on a farm collecting the first 7 controls before moving on to the Trek where they followed a stream through the thick bush collecting 5 more controls.
The team then hopped on their Mountain Bikes and biked on 4WD tracks, farm paddocks and up a hill before heading into the 2nd rogaine. Here the girls could choose 8 out of the 10 controls to collect. They then biked towards the finish. The team crossed the line in 3:39:38 coming 11th overall and claiming 3rd in the Senior Girls' Category.
Everyone had heaps of fun and are all looking forward to the future races.
