Bringing The World To Our School

Megan Kong, International Director —

Last week our Global relations group, led by Global Relations prefect, YouRim Kang, organised International Week to promote and celebrate the many diverse cultures that make up our school community.

The school was decorated with an international flavor, with each floor on the main block being themed for a different continent. Activities were organised for lunchtimes, including henna tattoos, origami folding, trying on Korean National costumes, International quizzes and of course the ever popular International Food fair which was a hit with lots of yummy food.

The week finished with a special International assembly where the students enjoyed a Kendo demonstration, a talk about the global impacts of fast fashion, some traditional dancing as well as a speech by YouRim Kang about her experiences of growing up in New Zealand as a Korean New Zealander. It was a fun and interesting week and the Global relations group did a fantastic job bringing the world to our school for the week.
