On Monday 24 June, a team of five year 9 akonga went to Tūranga library to compete in the Aoraki Readers' Cup 2024, placing 5th in the competition.

The Readers' Cup is a competition organised by school libraries across the country and celebrates a love of reading and books. Teams have just over a term to read six books and are tested on their memory and reading comprehension.

The Christchurch Girls' High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora team, Alex Binnie, Hetvi Patel, Ilya Li, Liv Abley and Olivia Zeng have been reading and practicing all term and it was wonderful to see them test their knowledge and celebrate reading alongside other school teams at such a fabulous venue.

The Readers' Cup is a highlight of the library calendar and we look forward to seeing our Year 9 team again at future competitions throughout their time at Christchurch Girls' High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora.
