Junior Speech Competition 2021

Anne Spence —

The annual Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora Junior Speech Competition was held on Thursday 23 September and we were thrilled to have a wide range of speeches.

All seven participants who took the opportunity to put themselves forward spoke with mana and confidence, and the judges were impressed with the consistent high quality of the performances.

Congratulations to our two runners up; Kate Gopperth (9KER) who gave a clever, humorous speech about what she's learnt from her pets, and Olivia Trolove (9BOJ) who spoke confidently and clearly about her views on boarding school.

Our 2021 Junior Speech Competition winner was Rose Lynn (10AGK). Rose's speech on women's rights was a fresh take on a well-loved, important topic, and she really demonstrated her ability to command an audience's attention.

A big thank you also goes to Ms Keates and Ms O'Connor for judging the competition. It was another successful event for 2021!
