Jazz Band this year has contained students from year 9-13.
We met every Friday at 7:30 am. This year we welcomed a new conductor, Vince Leahy. We were very grateful for Vince giving up his time to work with our students.
The girls worked to improve their performance and ability including improv solo work which was a first for most. We competed in Jazz Quest this year at Ara’s Jazz School coming away with a bronze certificate. We also performed in CGHS’s “Work in progress” music concert as the first performance of the year due to Covid’s disruptions. The girls have done very well considering the year it has been and not being able to meet for the entirety of the lockdown. We look forward to bigger and better things to come in 2021 with all the chances to learn and improve our playing.
