Physics / Ahupūngao - Level 3

CGHS —

This dynamic course ignites curiosity and will hone problem-solving skills. Embrace the excitement and soar toward an extraordinary future! Taking Physics at Level 3 will put students in a great position for entry into Health Science, Engineering and Science degrees.

Qualification: NCEA Level 3

Entry requirements: Achievement in 2.4 (Mechanics) external in the school examination. Entry is at the discretion of the HOD Physics.

There are 2-course options for Level 3 Physics:

PhysX (301) has 3 Externals (Electricity, Mechanics and Waves) and 1 Internal (3.5) - This course is open to all, but will particularly support those wanting to continue on to Engineering, the total credits are 19.

Physics (302) has 2 Externals (Mechanics and Waves) and 2 Internals (3.5 and 3.2) - This course is open to all but is a great base for those wanting to do Health Sciences, Architecture and Sciences, the total credits are 16

Field Trips: Margaret Mahy Playground to support the Internal (3.2) and understanding of the External (3.4 Mechanics)

Course Costs: Please be aware that this course has associated costs. By selecting this course you will be requested to make contributions connected to its delivery.

These costs are: $25 for a workbook

Where does it lead?

Having a solid understanding of Level 3 Physics will put students in a great position for 1st Year Health Science and Engineering, both these University courses have a compulsory Physics paper in the first year of study.

Physics will assist careers in the fields of science, engineering, technology, architecture, medicine and health sciences.
