Qualification: NCEA Level 3

Entry requirements: Achievement in 2.4 external in the school examination, a minimum of 13 credits at NCEA Level 2 Physics and 16 credits at NCEA Level 2 Mathematics. Entry is at the discretion of the HOD Physics.

Content/Skills: In the Year 13 course Mechanics is expanded to include rotation and oscillation as well as translation. Wave motion includes a variety of interference effects and the Doppler Effect and electrical phenomena now include alternating currents, inductors and capacitors. The Modern Physics topic gives a taste of nuclear, quantum and relativistic Physics. Emphasis is placed on carrying out a physics investigation accurately and calculating uncertainties.
