Christchurch Girls’ High School once again teamed up with the boys from Christchurch Boys’ to participate in the Canterbury Schools’ mixed tournament.

This was held on Friday, April 05. We entered two teams and endured playing conditions that were wet, cold and muddy.

Our teams faced fierce competition but were able to secure some commendable wins. Many of the other school teams play Kiorahi throughout the year and are advantaged in that they can practise together on a regular basis. In saying this, our students played with determination and kaha.

The ‘A’ team placed third in their pool, narrowly missing out on a semi final placing. However, the main outcome of the day was ‘whanaungatanga’. The girls enjoyed the tournament, developed their skills and learnt some new tactics to carry through to next year.
