Silver Medalists, South Island Schools Premier Tournament

Gracie Ansel, 1st XI Captain & Head of Hockey —

From the 31st August - 4th September, the CGHS 1st XI Hockey team competed in the South Island Schools Premier Tournament. This tournament was a replacement for their Nationals, that unfortunately could not go ahead due to Covid-19 circumstances.

The team had a fantastic week playing some amazing hockey, earning themselves a spot in the Gold medal match against St. Margaret's College. The girls played hard and came away with the Silver medal, with St. Margaret’s winning 2/0. Over the week the girls all played amazingly, with Salma Mohammed, Emily Bowden and Rose Stephenson placing in the top 10 of the top goal scorers for the tournament. This is an awesome achievement and we are extremely proud of the girls.

During the week, the team stayed at Living Springs which was a great venue. They had a lot of valuable team bonding time over their stay. The team still has a few games left in their Christchurch Schools competition. We wish them all the best for their final games.
