What Do 1000 Native Trees Look Like?

Mr Meredith and Mr Aaron —

In Terms Three and Four of last year a number of students were involved in potting up 1000 small native plants into larger pots so they could grow bigger over the summer ready for planting by students in winter 2022.

This took place at our school’s native nursery as part of the inter school Eco-Action programme which seeks to create a green corridor from the Red Zone to Riccarton Bush to encourage more native birds into the city as well as mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Special thanks to all the Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora Eco-Action volunteers and especially classes 10KER, 10KOM and 9BRJ who made a significant contribution as part of their Social Studies social action learning. If you want to get involved this year keep an eye on the notices or speak to Mr Meredith or Mr Aaron.
