Reporting 2023

Michelle Pinkney —

At Christchurch Girls’ High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora, a range of reports are produced to provide you with timely and relevant information regarding students’ progress and achievement.

Learning Engagement Reports

Learning Engagement Reports are produced for all year levels at fortnightly intervals during the term. You will receive an email notifying you that the report is available to view in the Parent Portal.

The first Learning Engagement Report for 2023 will be available in the Parent Portal on Monday 13 March and can be accessed using the information provided earlier in the year about logging on. The Parent Portal can be accessed via the parent page on the school website or via this link.

We expect students to be receiving a 4, indicating that they are consistently meeting the criteria below. These descriptors are aligned with the Key Competencies in the New Zealand Curriculum and are deemed essential for effective learning.

If a 3 or 4 is not received, we encourage you to have a conversation with your young person in the first instance. If you want further clarification in a particular area then contact the subject teacher, or the dean if your concerns are more widespread, so that we can work together to ensure that students are achieving to their potential.

We have also included attendance for each subject. The attendance rate records every time a student is actually present in class. There may be quite legitimate reasons for non-attendance such as illness, a curriculum trip in another area, sporting involvement and so on. The attendance rate in the report does not discriminate between justified and non-justified absences. It simply tells you how often as student was in that particular class.

Detailed information about attendance is available via the Attendance tab in the Parent Portal.

Academic Results Published to the Portal

In addition to the above reports, the results on any assessments, which have been completed, marked, moderated and published are visible on the parent portal. This can be accessed via the parent page on the website or via this link.

In 2022 there were disruptions to programmes of work which impacted on students’ learning and resulted in assessments being rescheduled and dates extended. In some cases this resulted in grades not being available on the portal. In 2023, it is hoped that there will be less disruption to learning and teaching, and that assessments run to schedule, with grades being published for caregivers in a timely manner.

Further information about reporting procedures will be communicated in due course.
