Congratulations to Lily Trotter, Akeira Worthington, and Beth Wray for being awarded Best Overall Team and Best Team Essay: Taxitions in this year's Treasury Schools Challenge. They have won scholarships to study at Victoria University. 

The Treasury Schools Challenge gives Year 12 and 13 students across the country the chance to address important public policy issues facing New Zealand.

The competition aims to stimulate discussion and debate on the Treasury's core work, give students an opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of a Treasury analyst looking at real-world policy making, and encourage students to take an interest in economics and public policy as a career option.

Able to enter as teams or individuals, this year’s entrants were asked to take on the role of an analyst developing a briefing to the Tax Working Group, which needed to contain three policy changes to promote a fairer tax system in New Zealand ...more
