Eco Action

Allan Meredith —

Bring your friends and family and look out for the Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora Flag, at 50 Atlantis St, New Brighton (see attached map), this Sunday, 14 May 10am-12pm.

Along with the other school communities we will be planting 5000 native trees and plants that we have all grown. Great atmosphere with heaps of fellow student and parent enthusiasts. Please bring some drinking water, solid footwear (gumboots are good) and your favourite spade if you have one. There will be 450 spades on site, so no excuses, everyone can help. The more the merrier.

Help our community help itself by developing this community asset that will last for generations to come. The grown forest will provide habitat and food for native birds and lizards as well as sequester carbon to help with global climate change. It's also quite fun to plant a few plants. Hope to see you there.

This is the first of four plantings that will see 20,000 locally sourced, student grown, native plants and trees in the ground at 50 Atlantis St, 14 May, 18 Jun, 30 Jul, 3 Sept. The 20 schools growing plants currently are. Tuahiwi Kura, St Michaels, Rawhiti Primary, SBHS, AGHS, STAC, Rangi Ruru, ChCh South Int, Heaton Int, Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora, CBHS, Burnside Primary, St Margaret's, Cathedral Grammar, Casebrook Intermediate, St Patricks Primary, Christ's College, Medbury, Riccarton High and STAC Prep. Charles Upham, Ryman Rangiora and Richmond Community Gardens have also joined us.
