Canterbury Adventure Race
On Saturday the 24th of August, we had two Christchurch Girls' High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora Adventure Racing teams compete in the Canterbury Adventure Race.
The teams both competed in the 3-hour event where they mountain biked, orienteered and completed a mystery activity. Christchurch Girls' High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora Red consisted of Emma Pawley, Ayana Cooke, Annabel Diprose and Isla Fergus and Christchurch Girls' High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora White consisted of Haylee Geange, Avalon Suttill and Awanshikha Gosai. The teams both had an awesome day out at Spencer Park where the race was happening and the weather was much nicer than last year with the sun shining. The teams started out with a mystery activity before biking to the Brooklands Red Zone where they completed a rogaine. They then did a bike loop in Bottle Lake Forest before finishing with a Rogaine in the forest. CGHS Red came 29th overall and 8th in the junior category while Christchurch Girls' High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora White came 53rd overall and 17th in the junior category. Overall both teams had a great time.
Ayana Cooke said "I had a great time. It was really fun and such an awesome sport to do and it was so much better with nice weather this year"
