Mental Health Awareness Week

Abanti Antara and Cecelia Jardine -King —

We are observing Mental Health Awareness Week. The Library and Learning Enhancement areas are collaborating on activities and displays. Student librarians made wonderful posters around the library. We hope to work together to take care of our mental health and wellbeing.

SHE committee had an origami and colouring activity session in the library at
Tuesday lunchtime. Our student librarians were working together with them to make
it eventful.

Library sessions were organised on mental health awareness. We crafted a worry
monster to feed students’ worries and anxieties. In the sessions, students identified
their mates as superheroes and noted their qualities. This activity encouraged them
to appreciate an individual's quality and cherish those moments. Their friends, who
were nominated as superheroes, got appreciation cards from us and loved them.
They also participated in a bookmark competition in the library.

We also had a display from Learning Enhancement focused on celebrating neurodiversity as a superpower.

Students have been surveyed about their knowledge around neurodiversity and a summary of the results will be in an upcoming newsletter.
