Physical Education - Level 2

CGHS —

Qualification: NCEA Level 2

Entry requirements: PE 1.1 should be achieved with Merit or Excellence as students have to participate actively in a variety of contexts and PE 1.2 or at the discretion of the HOLA. For students who have not studied Level 1 PE, 14 Science credits are required. 

Content/Skills: This course covers a variety of practical and theoretical topics at a more advanced level. Year 12 has a greater emphasis on sports science and its application to movement (anatomy, biomechanics, motor learning/skill development and methods and principles of training). Students will also experience being outside their comfort zones while demonstrating leadership skills and social responsibility.

Assessment:

Internally Assessed Standards

These are standards which will be assessed during the year and you will be awarded credits at that time if you gain an Achieved, Merit or Excellence grade. There is no external examination at the end of the year for internal assessments.

There is only ONE assessment opportunity for 2.5, 2.3 and 2.6 but for 2.4 there are reassessment opportunities. 2.8 assessment is ongoing in nature and take place over multiple terms/units.

There are no Externally Assessed Standards in Physical Education
