Past Student Success

Michael Langdon —

It was a wonderful surprise when late last term Jennifer Lee came to visit, having returned from London to visit her family and perform a piano solo concert at The Piano.

Jennifer was a Music student at Christchurch Girls’ High School until 2000, and a superbly talented pianist, so it was great to be able to chat to her again, after all these years!

After she left school, Jennifer studied piano at The Guildhall in London, gaining her Master’s with Distinction in 2006, and many prestigious prizes including the Henderson Prize at the 8th Scottish international Piano Competition and the Academie Internationale de Musique Maurice Ravel Prize in 2010.

I was able to attend her performance at The Piano on April 19th, where she performed a Beethoven Sonata, Chopin Barcarolle, Ravel’s Ondine and Liszt’s Apres une Lecture du Dante. A fabulous treat with exceptional playing.

Again, a pleasure to see and hear a former student who has had such great success.
