Interact Club

Hawwa Niyaz —

Students in our school from both the Interact club and the Student Volunteer Army volunteered to help with the running of the Ronald McDonald House Duathlon.

This volunteering helped the event to run smoothly and was a wonderful way for us to get involved within the community. This event always manages to be so much fun and raise incredible amounts of money for such worthy causes.

Because of COVID-19, the duathlon wasn’t able to properly take place last year, but there was an incredible turnout this year with a record number of around 1300 participants!

After our students helped out at the duathlon, Garden City Rotary have been immensely kind and donated $1000 from the funds raised, towards Women’s Refuge, our school charity for the year! Garden City Rotary came into school on Monday 20 September to present us with this cheque, and the donations have been passed on to Women’s Refuge, something I believe will make such a significant impact on multiple lives.

I really encourage you to volunteer and get involved in your local charities and community, it can be such a rewarding experience and one that brings so much meaning to your life.
