Lifesaving
The lifesaving examinations were held at Jellie Park on Wednesday 23rd June.
Year 9 and Year 10 students have been training with their senior instructors since the beginning of Term 2, practising the necessary skills for the Bronze Star award.
Students in Year 11 have been working on the skills required for the Bronze Medallion award, whilst students in Years 12 and 13 focussed on the senior awards of Bronze Cross and Award of Merit.
The examiners were impressed with the high level of swimming ability and the thorough knowledge of lifesaving techniques and safety protocols demonstrated by all students. Several students were recognised for their skills as instructors and have been awarded their Lifesaving Instructor's Certificate.
Thank you to Hana Burrowes for her leadership and support of the instructors and groups.
Hana Burrowes and Olivia Sidwell have completed the prestigious Distinction award, which requires many hours of extra training and additional skills.
