Exploring The World Without Leaving Home

CGHS Publication —

While it may seem at times like the world just got a lot smaller, we are lucky to live in an age where there are a world of opportunities that students can explore online.

Arts & Culture

In recent years, countless galleries and museums have been slowly digitising their experience. You can view high definition pictures of classic art, view 3D mockups of ancient artefacts and even take a virtual tour inside many of the buildings themselves! Here are a few of our favourites:

Geography

While nothing compares to getting in the field, you can take a virtual trip to a surprising number of places online with apps like Google Earth and Google Maps. Make sure you don't miss:

History

History is often pieced together from collections of artefacts and the online environment lends itself well to exploring many tangents in an interactive way. We've been exploring:

STEM

One of our most popular trips takes schools to the NASA Space Center in Houston. They also have an amazing mobile app that lets you explore the entire centre including inside cockpits with a full virtual tour. You can download the NASA Space Center app here.

You may also want to check out the exhibits on the Natural History Museum for a slightly more earth-bound experience.
