Spelling Bee

Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora Year 9-10 participants battled it out at the Spelling Bee competition in the first round at school on 28 July.

Congratulations to all our wonderful participants! While not everyone was successful in getting to the next round, a number were. For those who did not make it to the next round, they have learnt some new words they will have for life!

Also, Year 9 spellers can take part in the event again next year, so they should keep practicing their spelling. Successful students were among the top year 9-10 spellers around the country to advance to the next stage. There were 9 semi-finalists (Sehar Ali, Alisha Aroha, Poppy Archer, Medha Baadkar, Isabella Kerr, Lily Rumball, Charlotte Bealing, Dorothy Nguyen and Matisse Foster) in our kura. We handed in their qualifying certificates on Wednesday 16 August. Ka mau te wehi!!
