CGHS Athletics Day

Robin Brown, Sports Coordinator —

The school had a fantastic day on Tuesday at Nga Puna Wai Sports Hub at our 2020 Athletics Day.

A cloudy, calm day greeted us all, perfect for competitors and spectators alike. As the day progressed the sun came out as well.

This day provides an opportunity for our competitive athletes to showcase their talent to the school. There were some fantastic events, both on field and on the track. A record was broken by Alice Fissenden in the Under 15 200 metres; this was a record that had been set in 1970! Congratulations Alice!

The day at Nga Puna Wai was very colourful with many students choosing to dress up in House Colours and then participate in the House events.

The SHE committee took the opportunity to add tabloid events on the back grass area which were House based and included activities such as tug of war and sack races. This enabled many students to be involved throughout the day and have lots of fun.

Overall results can be viewed here

Well done to all who attended the Athletics Sports and made it such a memorable whole school occasion and sense of whanaungatanga.
