UNICEF - United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai.

Ngarita MacKenzie 13DXS —

Recently, through my work as a UNICEF Young Ambassador I have been given the opportunity to be a part of the New Zealand delegation, travelling to the United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai.

COP conferences are renowned for addressing some of the world's most pressing environmental issues, and I'm honoured to be part of the New Zealand delegation contributing to these global discussions. I will be joined in the delegation by six other young delegates from across the country.

The COP conference is an event where nations come together to discuss and address climate change, biodiversity loss, and other environmental challenges. At COP, I'll have the opportunity to learn from experts, engage in diplomatic negotiations, and connect with peers from around the world who share a passion for environmental sustainability. My time at COP is focused on Climate Change through a Māori perspective, demonstrating how climate change affects indigenous populations.

As I prepare for this incredible journey, I'm grateful for the support and encouragement from my school and community. My time at Christchurch Girls' High School /Te Kura o Hine Waiora, has taught me valuable skills that will be of great benefit at the Conference of the Parties.
