Orchestra Festival

MICHAEL LANGDON - HOD MUSIC —

In what has been a very busy, varied and successful performance term for the Music Department, the finale of the Orchestra Festival involved a Gala Concert on Sunday afternoon.

Every group had the opportunity to perform one piece and then all schools combined to form a massed orchestra of about 500 (that filled the floor and the stage of the Town Hall auditorium) to perform three massed item pieces, including a student composition..The String Orchestra performed 'Fire in the Forge' by Ted Allen while the Orchestra performed 'Millennium' by Richard Meyer. Both orchestras performed very creditably and had a rewarding time performing for, and with, the other students. A special mention for Charlotte Cotton who received an award for 'Complete engagement with the conductor and leadership of her section.' Well done to everyone involved and thank you for your fine effort.
