Academic Assembly Celebrates Student Success

Sonja Bailey —

A huge thank you to all the parents and whānau who joined us at our recent Academic Assembly! We greatly appreciate your ongoing support at these important school events.

Christchurch Girls’ High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora once again celebrated the outstanding academic achievements of our young women, with a remarkable number receiving Academic Merit and Colours based on their success at NCEA Levels 1 and 2.

The assembly also provided an opportunity to announce the recipients of the Bickerton-Widdowson award for 2024. This award recognises Year 13 students who have demonstrated high achievement at NCEA Level 3. The award is made possible through the Bickerton-Widdowson Trust, administered by Christchurch schools, and requires recipients to be enrolled at Canterbury University.

We are delighted to announce this year's Bickerton-Widdowson award winners and their chosen fields of study at Canterbury University:

  • Alice Newman: Bachelor of Science, majoring in Finance and Mathematics

  • Eden Nuttall: Bachelor of Music, majoring in Composition

  • Neela van Gerwen: Engineering

The school extends its warmest congratulations to all students who received an award at the assembly. Your hard work and dedication are truly commendable.
