Acland Prefects
Being Acland Head Girl has been such a rewarding role and something I had strived for after 4 years of boarding at Acland.
These girls had become a second family to me. I have loved organising an array of activities and events for the Acland boarders to make the hostel feel like home to them. It has been a pleasure to give back to Acland considering everything they have given me including a bunch of lifelong friends and 5 years of memories.
Over these 5 years, there have been many changes at Acland including our new main block which was restored from the 2011 earthquakes which made a huge difference to Acland life. We realise just how lucky we have been to live in such a highly regarded place.
For the majority of us who are from smaller towns, we have been exposed to opportunities we never thought possible by attending CGHS. We have gained a community at Acland that has always been supporting and caring, and of course a group of lifelong friends. Living with you all have been a crazy adventure and I would do it all again from day one if I could.
I want to thank all the people around me for all I have achieved and experienced over the years at CGHS and in the Acland community. Firstly, to my parents, you know I wouldn’t swap this amazing experience here for the world so thank you for allowing me to follow my dream of being an Acland girl. Thank you to my fellow Acland year group, you have been the most superb friends a girl can ask for and more, and I know that this does not end for us because there is still more to come from us girls and I can’t wait to continue to create memories with you. To the Acland staff, you have helped us develop into confident and independent girls. Especially to Ms. Guillemot you are an inspiring and humorous person who run Acland smoothly for many years and we are so grateful for how much you care and how proud you are of each Acland girl. Thank you to both Steph and June for doing an amazing job of both Head and Deputy of school, your passion, and energy towards the school has resulted in a fun-filled and successful final year for all of us. And of course all the best of luck to the Year 13s in their future endeavors. And to next year's Head girl Alice Ridgen and the deputies I know you will continue to make Acland the fun and outstanding place we call home.
