On Monday 8 May we had a fabulous afternoon of running at Hagley Park for the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Road Race Championships.

The racing conditions were unseasonably warm with temperatures around 20 degrees. It is not often you have to go in search of sunscreen or hear people complaining about the heat at this time of year.

We had a squad of 18 runners, and all enjoyed the great competition just a stone’s throw away from school, amongst the beautiful colours of Hagley Park in autumn.

A special mention must go to Kate Currie who took out the Senior Girls’ event. What a wonderful performance Kate. You are proving to be a force to be reckoned with in running circles.
